First glance:

I'm a Jewish woman, wrapped in education and experiences, unmedicated, with frequent creative impulses and an obsessive need to communicate. I thoroughly enjoy reading (even to the extent of losing valuable sleep), listening to music, singing in public, run-on sentences, and being with people who make me laugh. If there is no music in my life, my emotional state deteriorates.

More generalities? I'm an aunt to a number of fantastic kids who brighten my life. My creative endeavors include: knitting, I've painted pottery, I've played flute (many years in my youth), I cook and bake, I take lots of digital photos, and I also make jewelry, which can be found at the Flickr site listed above. I've also been known to use crayons and colored pencils alongside the younger crowd, for their amusement and mine.

I work in academia; I'm always interested in how people got where they are in life, career-wise, and then passing on inspiration, tips and networking to those who come to me for advising. I'm a champion networker, on and off the job.

In other news, it's time for birthday parties and holiday get-aways. There's more knitting to be done and gifts to wrap, tactile and colorful goodness for me to give to others. Baking and cooking are easily foreseeable in my future. I'll be visiting friends and hopefully getting enough sleep at times. The only downside to this part of the year might be the radiator drying out my sinuses overnight.


General notice:

It's not journaling that's difficult, it's figuring out what to post and what to skip, what to filter and what to edit. This medium is an exercise in letting yourself be known. How many people on one's friends-list actually knows one? Is that the point? If one isn't an exhibitionist, what the hell is one doing here, anyway? My answer: I'm here to share my life with those who are not nearby. Occasionally my family drops in (or so they tell me); hence, there will be nothing here that I don't want Mom or Abba to read.

This journal is very much not an exhibitionistic place. It's very much the daily life, minutiae, the stuff most people could see if they were watching over my shoulder. I've noticed, though, that most people don't pay attention to the same things I do. If you can go through your day and at the end say "oh, nothing much happened", then you weren't looking closely enough.
